It is with this sense of excitement B'zar, the clothing store of the hip in the Upper King Street, has led a campaign of Munny artwork. Slaughter of 30 Charleston artists and beyond, B'zar scheduled for this Friday night in a live auction at Redux Contemporary Art Center will display these dolls very stylized.
"We support new ideas," says Gustavo Serrano, owner of B'zar "especially those that offer artists the opportunity to work on something they really are all ".
Serrano will be the fast talking, as the auctioneer. All proceeds go to support Redux after school program disclosure. DJ's beats that fill the air. There could be a dark room for light-in-the-dark Munnys. And the artists will be on hand to discuss how their personality Munny and search became.
Experimental in approach, the Munny, which in this case is made by a company called Kidrobot in New York, offers artists the opportunity to free their inhibitions, to flesh out a thought or feeling or idea that might not otherwise find their way into a more traditional piece seriously.
However, the canvas Munny, with its rolling contours and unbalanced form, has different challenges as well.
"I did one last time, and it was really difficult," says Serrano. "This time I said I have my own Munny (points to his little boy, Matthew), so that you do without me."
