Since when did the police become the heralds of defending my freedom?
It has been said that the police are people sworn to uphold the law as its primary duty. Also for each person to report the crime and assist police in apprehending criminals. When the police become adversary in 10% of the population, then something is wrong with our system of laws. Just need the police to enforce the law and not become advocates of my freedoms. All to often the police are arresting people who are breaking the law and morality are not criminals, except that the law has made them such. A woman on a bus is not necessary to present identification at the request of any officer or walking or jogging exercising wise in any lawful activity. Often the police these days We are giving tough to harass and arrest law-abiding people for simple traffic violations and refusing to submit to inquiries and requests for identification upon request police. Have we become a police state by allowing the police to act as the military.
Oh boy what a barrel of snakes is political. We have a state / federal system of government is not leaps and bounds (Katrina anyone?) Have proved ineffective in many issues of "service public "that best Legislators limpwrist can do is go to raise taxes and make laws over the band of support from past failures. In 1950 there were about 10,000 federal law. As the need for more government control increased, and in the name of a better life for U.S. citizens, in 2004 there were over 150,000 of laws (within the USC and CFR alone). The states have followed suit, raising laws in the books by a factor of 10, but in the final analysis, laws can ALL reduced to a common denominator to make it easier for the government to control people. Very few of theses laws have increased independence, choice or free will of the individual. The development of police forces in the system have gone from "protect and serve" painted on the side of police cars, the new and improved "Law Enforcement" … and with that, the summary execution of an unarmed suspect about a week local (Portland Oregon area as a classic example) for failing to follow instructions, no one involved "official" always accused by the jury after the fact. NOW … Who is the most dangerous person on American streets, the real statistical truth?. This bit of political truth and statistics, I probably membership cost to Yahoo Answers … So, I would not trade for anything to change, two of my uncles died at Omaha Beach …
