While waiting in a queue at the clothing store, I could not stop looking at the watch on the wrist of this beautiful woman before me. He was President of gold Rolex with diamonds. Next to it was a gold bracelet, David Yurman bracelet. Then I noticed her clothes. To my surprise, her clothes were so simple, casual and unbranded. She wore a flowered blouse, wrap skirt and sandals. A mixture of unusual and interesting mix of high and low and I am here thinking about it and talking about her.

In the past several decades we have lived through high marks, low marks, unmarked. We have learned to move easily between high and low and accept what we need in a sense more practical. Our taste is no longer limited to a particular class, culture, brand or price. We are free and have learned to make our own style with no rules – no borders. We have made more flexible. We realized that we are not fashionable, but fashion is for us. We created new styles and inspired designers to think. It is no longer designers telling us how to dress. I felt when I looked at the woman in the shops. She is free to choose what you want and can still leave an impression.

I was not surprised, but just curious to know where you might have to buy skirts. It was a Wrap Silk Skirt – knee length. The simplicity of the wrap skirt made it more attractive and made a clear difference in appearance. I will not be surprised if you had bought the shirt with flowers and warm skirt pushing a car outside a shopping mall. The high-low combination is now our social thinking. No longer replaces the other – go together.

We all know about high fashion – expensive brands, but we know very little about fashion low – low value and non-fashion brand.
