Crew Walking
I did something last week that some would call absolutely crazy.
Firewalking.
You see, I spent last week in beautiful Cancun, Mexico.
I attended a powerful conference called "Breakthrough."
With a name like the gap, I'm wondering what new doors of light broke in my life. I'm already having conversations with myself about what limiting beliefs know that I can leave behind.
Now, I had heard they would be doing a walk on fire and had even signed a statement saying the group would be coals.
Have you ever done a walk on fire?
Honestly, I had seen pictures of people coals, but I had not thought much about it. I always thought, "Who would be crazy to even want to do that? "
Well, looks like … Me.
When I first saw the pieces of burning wood, I thought it looked like a college football game bonfire.
It was getting me madder by the second.
Actually, firewalking trained team waits until the fire reaches a certain point. I guess the ideal temperature is 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. 1200 degrees? That's hot.
Therefore, my mind begins into overdrive. Will it hurt? What if I fall? I guess to stop drop and roll, is out. My mind is being protection, right? I mean, come one … Who into account their "right" wants to walk on fire?
What I know is that our mind keeps us riveted. Our mind wants to stay in our comfort zone. What we intuitively know is that we have different results, we must leave our comfort zone.
Therefore … the coals.
What is the purpose of walking on fire?
It is for break all these illusions and perceptions we have about what we perceive as difficult. We create all these stories of our lives … all the reasons we can not achieve what we want. Not enough time, money, support, etc.. The thing about fire is a ride you realize that nothing less than a 100% commitment to the walk is painful, pain real. I mean, dear! My toe is throbbing! Sense is right? You certainly do not want to stop halfway!
When I approached the fire, because it was my turn, I went … with the focus and expectation of the facility. I walked through the fire because I can not but because I must. This "should" represent all That time I allowed my story I stop short.
What was my story? For me, my biggest reason for going home was my girl I took so long to have, and that big "why" became my biggest reason as to "why not". Why not go somewhere or not to participate. I realized when I went through that fire that I only had since restricting myself … nobody else, just me.
How many times have you allowed your limiting beliefs that prevent you from making the trip I wanted, start your own business, running a marathon or call an old friend to reconnect?
How many times when it was his turn to cross the fire, stopped and turned back? You see, fire is only symbolic to most of us. (For me it was real blessed to experience this last week.) For most, when the pain of life becomes severe, when things look bad, when the bank account has dried it becomes history. This is when most turn and run.
And when You Walk up fire, you realize that fire is the test. The proof of how badly you want the life you say you want?
Yes, it can be a bit painful to make A Path different from our comfortable life … But here's the thing, my friends, the "pain" the new you is emerging. There are no children without manpower, not without the cocoon of a butterfly, no new body without closing the fridge door.
I will await the results!
