When Martial Arts students be enrolled in classes, their goal is often to perfect their technique to the point where they receive a Black Belt. Interestingly, many people – including students – or do not know what the color or are under the wrong impression about him. For example, some believe represents the highest level of achievement possible in the technique being studied. Others believe it means the student has graduated to the role of an instructor. However, others think it means that a student has successfully demonstrated a predefined level of physical dexterity. Neither is true.
It is important to realize that never arts education truly extreme martial. Students are encouraged to continue their training consistently, while using the guiding principles and philosophy of style preference in their daily lives. Which opposes the idea of achieving mastery over the art itself.
In Japan, the term "black belt" is used rarely. In contrast, the Japanese refer to a martial arts professional who has "Dan" (or range). While systems vary, Dan is often given based the ability of a student in three different categories: physical, psychological, and spiritual. Then I will describe each in more detail.
Of Fitness
The different styles of martial arts emphasize different features. For example, emphasizes the judo throwing at the same time puts highlight the striking karate. Although a person may receive a black belt for the domain only of the movements associated with their technique of choice, a good competition strike rounded, kicking, throwing, and blocking is preferable. In addition, students must be able to demonstrate a very refined skill in controlling his body and time. In fact, while many students focus on strike moves, often subtle movements that allow them to stand apart from their peers.
Psychological aptitude
Most martial arts styles stress the importance of psychological temperance. In the context of earning a black belt, this restraint must be shown on the alert on the environment. A student must be able to understand your situation quickly and react accordingly. He or she must not only be able to recognize the potential danger, but also must be able to discern why this danger exists. In the case of a hypothetical attacker, a student must identify the presence weapons, accessories, and possible exit routes.
Spiritual Fitness
Unfortunately, this category is often overlooked, if not totally ignored, in determining whether a student of martial arts is worthy of a black belt. Spiritual fitness is as important as the other two areas. Many experienced professionals argue that students should have a clear moral and ethical position. Each situation is unique and clarity of things that decision-making aid.
For example, if an aggressor attacks, if frustrated, causing no damage or if the situation warrants a counterattack? Is there a chance that some will be accidentally damaged? A greater good out to avoid a confrontation rather than challenge an aggressor?
The confluence of multiple capabilities
At the same time to earn a black belt can be achieved without mastering the three categories above, a true immersion in the martial arts, virtually requires your domain. Students must be able not only to prove his fitness in his chosen style, but must also show a psychological and spiritual competence. In fact, mastering a specific discipline requires several skills.
Many martial arts instructors believe that a student is most deserving of a black belt once he or she has clearly demonstrated the ability to learn. More than just become an expert in a series of strikes and blockades, the student should be able to understand precepts that underlie the martial arts. In fact, this may be the best criterion by which a black belt is awarded.
