MMA – also known as Mixed Martial arts – is a whole new kind of sport that has become a favorite of many countries. The UFC – best known as the Ultimate Fighting Championship – is the largest presenter of MMA and has several fight for them every year with a number of combatants. Even a beginning some boxing fighters are trying to MMA.

MMA combines the art of several different types of martial arts for the fighters to use. In a battle that may have the power to see the use of combatants wrestling, judo, Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. Combatants MMA is fought out using different techniques of these forms of struggle within an eight-sided cage. The only way to win is to knock down the opponent, forcing them to touch out using a presentation, or to succeed in the decision of the judges.

The fighters go at each other for three, five minute rounds that time observing and judges decide who won, if none of them is removed or exploded out. The fights can be intense. It is the work of the referees to make sure to stop if one combatant is no longer able to defend themselves. This prevents serious damage to either fighter.

Training for MMA competition demands hours of dedication and practice. It may take years for someone to learn the various techniques and how to use MMA to fight.
