alphabet Floor Puzzle puzzle?

I have a free floor puzzle made of 26 squares large foam wedge. Because when I was dismantled, I do not know how many square through it should be (hopefully) make a large square. It also has a border that makes the outer edges smooth, but every time I put together, I can not seem to make a square, and finish with either border pieces is not enough, or pieces of leftover edges. I know it must have a mathematical way easy to solve this, but simply do not have the patience or the desire to find the mathematician in me. (always my weakest subject!) Anyone who has children who have seen this thing together in the right way at least once …. Can anyone tell me how to do this ??…. Frustrated!

square root of 26, which is not an integer so is missing some pieces or 1 additional piece is assuming that the square would be good 5×5 25 pieces or 6×6 36 pieces. If knows all the pieces are certainly not to its square
