Ankle Guard
The 31-year-old San Antonio Spurs player Manu Ginóbili was hospitalized this week to have surgery to repair his left ankle. Previous its final decision the player had been struggling with injury and despite the therapy and rehabilitation his doctors advised, his ankle kept bothering him.
Ginobili, an Argentine-born Italian has played in the NBA since 2002, when he signed with the Spurs and has since played a total of six seasons with the team from San Antonio. Manu is also part of Argentina's national team and played for the Olympic Games in Beijing, his talent as a guard at the extreme support for the team, which won the bronze medal but made clear their efforts caused the injury, which again became a more serious concern by the basketball player. Even the Ginobili said he wanted to be part of the final Argentina played during the tournament, but knew he could not put more pressure on their condition.
Doctors Spurs had done some testing of his injury, but there was no sign of improvement, therefore physicians as Ginobili decided to undergo surgery.
"They're going to do surgery on me. Now, the thing is that the injury is not worse but no better either, and it seems the only way to repair that arthroscopic surgery is complete. "said the player with the daily La Nacion Argentina.
Manu surgery was performed by Dr. Richard Ferkel in a hospital in Los Angeles and announced that it was a complete success. Ginobili will walk on crutches for about three weeks, but right after that he will be able to begin their regular therapy and he could then consider returning to play for your team I could be in the first weeks of the season.
There is no doubt that Ginobili is the Spurs lost, since for the 2008-09 season are expected to is an important man in the team, especially after the performance last season averaged more assists, points and rebounds in their entry into the playoffs, where teams like the Spurs erased the Suns, Cavaliers and Denver
